I want my students to remember to ask questions and seek evidence and information. I want my students to recognize that knowledge is power and believe that they have the skills to learn, seek information, and educate themselves on whatever they are passionate or curious about.
Cathryn’s Story
Teaching Discipline
Biology
Why Biology
I’ve always had a love for animals and science since I was young. As a middle schooler, I was particularly interested in weather and earth science. When I got to high school, I took AP biology and fell in love with life science. Science helps explain natural phenomena and peaks curiosity in many students, whether they choose to pursue the field or not.
Professional Experience
Cathryn started her teaching career as a student teacher at East Hartford High School, teaching biology in a hybrid mode during the 2020-2021 school year. After that she did an internship at Windsor High School working in both general science and biology classrooms. Cathryn has spent two years teaching at East Hartford High School teaching general biology. Next year she will be introducing two new elective courses, zoology and botany!
Cathryn will start her third year at East Hartford High School, East Hartford Connecticut in the 2024-2025 school year.

In her free time, Cathryn loves to Salsa dance. She has found it very rewarding, and hopes to make time to learn more types of dance next year.
