I am looking forward to many years in the classroom where I will get to think, collaborate, learn and teach every day.”
Chris’s Story
Chris Davis earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Washington in Seattle. “Although I did not want to leave the country environment where I grew up, I wanted to attend the best engineering school in the state.”
In high school, Chris had been drawn to architecture and engineering, so he focused on acquiring a solid base of math courses; also attending a local community college during his senior year as part of the Running Start program.
During his freshman year, Chris began coaching junior high basketball and realized how much he enjoyed working with youth. “It dawned on me that my passion was not with building planes, but with helping people.
This coincided with an appreciation for the logic, patterns and symmetry of math.” He stayed on at the University of Washington to earn his master’s degree and teaching credential in mathematics education. “I am looking forward to many years in the classroom where I will get to think, collaborate, learn and teach every day. Ultimately, I will be helping teenagers to gain a better understanding of the world that they live in.”
Chris began teaching at the Lewis and Clark High School in 2008. In 2009, Chris was chosen by his district’s secondary math coordinator to be part of a committee reorganizing the freshman curriculum to meet the new state standards requirements.
