Designing Instructional Tasks to Increase Student Engagement and Learning in Math
I am charged with the goal of making a positive impact on society through mathematics education.”
Kyalamboka Brown was inspired to become a mathematics educator in grade school after seeing the power of mathematics to change lives in the midst of inequitable school structures. In high school, she decided to focus specifically on improving mathematics education for both racially and economically marginalized populations.
During her decade-long career in K–12 education, she served as a high school mathematics teacher, a STEM curriculum developer, a professional development facilitator, and an instructional coach. Currently, she is a doctoral student at Stanford University, where she is studying the ways that the mathematics identities of racially minoritized youth are shaped by practices and policies (anticipated completion 06/25).
