I realized that what I am really passionate about is helping people reach their goals, grow, and learn. I realized that teaching was the perfect path to do that. I definitely get the most joy from teaching when I see my students get excited about something—whether its science, their achievements, or just a really awesome day!”

Why Science
“Science is something that I was not very good at when I was younger, but I had a high school biology teacher who showed me how awesome science really is, and believed that I could actually be good at it.”
Professional Experience
Mary worked as a tutor for the Learning Academic Resource Center at the University of California, Irvine for three years. As a tutor, she taught groups of five to twenty college students biology, chemistry, and calculus.
During her time at the University of California, Irvine, Mary received the Dalai Lama Scholarship and founded Project ACE (Anteaters for College Excellence). The project pairs student-mentors with foster and first-generation teens from the Samueli Academy, a charter high school in Santa Ana for disadvantaged youths.
Mary will begin teaching at Fremont High School during the 2018–2019 school year.
