Brittney’s Story
A Colorado native, Brittney Stefanic always planned on beginning her biology teaching career in her home state. “My own educational experience within the Cherry Creek School District led to my interest in becoming a teacher.”
Brittney is passionate about education and her community. During her junior and senior years at the University of Colorado, she taught at three Boulder area schools and served as a Public Achievement Coach at Centaurus High School. There she worked with students to create a job simulation event called “Wanna Do City.” The aim of this year-long project was to respond to the high dropout rate in the area by showing younger students the importance of obtaining an education.
Brittney graduated from Cherry Creek High School in Greenwood Village, Colo., and earned a BA degree in ecology and evolutionary biology from the University of Colorado. She is compled her secondary science education credential program at her high school alma mater.
Brittney is a member of both Phi Beta Kappa and Order of Omega. She interned with Teach For America and supported future teachers at the summer Phoenix Institute. An avid traveler, Brittney hopes to one day visit Africa to study the flora and fauna of the Serengeti Desert.
