I hope my students leave my class with a sense of accomplishment and belief in themselves. They will not leave my class thinking they are inherently bad at math, making them inferior to other students. They will leave my class knowing if they don’t understand, they will find a way to figure out how.”

Jazmine’s Story

Teaching Discipline

Mathematics

Why Mathematics

“There is a beautiful simplicity and sense of closure I feel after completing a math problem. At the same time, there is this struggle one pushes through when a problem doesn’t make sense that makes the mastery that much more fulfilling. I could only hope I could share or show students how to find this beauty within mathematics and the challenges that come with it.”

Professional Experience

Jazmine participated in the NASCENT Research Experience for Teachers program at the University of Texas at Austin during summer 2016. She also assisted a graduate student who was working on developing a way to etch a copper coated silicon wafer via ammonia oxidation.

Jazmine began teaching at Manor New Tech High School during the 2016–2017 school year.

Hobbies

Jazmine loves running, bouldering, and snuggling up with a good book and a hot cup of coffee.
