Why Physics

“Physics was an early interest, from watching science shows on television to taking AP Physics in high school. I believe that the skills students learn in physics are applicable to other disciplines and navigating life in general, so I wanted to support others in developing those skills for themselves.” 

Professional Experience

Before pursuing teaching as a full-time career, Albert David held a variety of education-related positions in both the United States and abroad, including working as a student tutor, a private tutor and a college student aide. Most significantly, he taught English as a second language and English as a foreign language in Shimotsuma, Japan, for five years through the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program. As an assistant language teacher, Albert David worked with dozens of Japanese teachers of English on a weekly basis, creating engaging language and culture lessons. Additionally, he was selected to be one of three Prefectural Advisors by the Ibaraki Prefectural Board of Education. In this role, he helped organize orientations and professional development conferences for other assistant language teachers in the area. It is noteworthy to mention that Albert David co-founded a nationwide support network for assistant language teachers of Asian descent living in Japan—a group that is still active to this day.

Albert David will begin his first year of teaching at Walnut High School during the 2021–2022 school year.
