John H. Walker taught math and engineering the first three years of his career in South Central Los Angeles. His most recent teaching role was teaching engineering in Durham, North Carolina.  He had a previous career as a civil engineer but would rather help people become engineers than be one himself, which led him to education. Outside of work, he serves as a Finance Zone Advisor for a Regional Executive Board of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and as the treasurer of the University of Pittsburgh EXCEL Program’s Alumni Council.
